World Cup Elo ratings updated after round 1
The World Cup 2026 fixture difficulty table now reflects updated World Football Elo ratings following the first round of group stage matches. Elo ratings shift after every result, so the table's Elo mode will keep moving between matchdays as the tournament progresses.
What moved after round 1
Most of the elite teams held their tier, but a few sides shifted strength bracket on the back of their opening result:
- Turkey and Senegal dropped from strength 4 to strength 3
- Austria climbed from strength 3 to strength 4
- Egypt and Ivory Coast climbed from strength 2 to strength 3
- Panama and Uzbekistan dropped from strength 3 to strength 2
If you're tracking a team in one of the upcoming matchdays, it's worth a quick check back on the table — an opponent's pill colour may have changed even if their fixtures haven't.
Keeping the ratings current
We'll continue refreshing Elo ratings from eloratings.net between matchdays for the rest of the group stage. FIFA mode (the toggle next to Elo) isn't affected, since FIFA rankings only update periodically rather than after every match.
